The Mayflower Hotel

1127 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036

Nicknamed “the Grande Dame of Washington,” the Mayflower is more than a hotel—it’s a landmark. Opened in 1925 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this storied spot has hosted presidents, dignitaries, and countless history-making moments. For NERC, it’s the perfect backdrop: elegant, central, and buzzing with DC energy.

by car

DC driving is not for the faint of heart (consider this your friendly warning). Parking is limited and pricey downtown, but valet is available at the Mayflower. Pro tip: If you can, train or plane it and skip the traffic stress.

by train

Amtrak and MARC at Union Station: A straight shot into DC. From Union Station, it’s a quick Metro ride (Red Line to Farragut North) or a short cab to the Mayflower.

METRO: The Mayflower sits between Farragut North (Red Line) and Farragut West (Blue/Orange/Silver Lines) for easy access to the entire city.

by plane

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): About 15 minutes by taxi or rideshare. Metro-friendly (Blue/Yellow lines).
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD): 45 minutes away, with a direct Silver Line Metro connection.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI): About an hour away. Amtrak and MARC trains connect you right into DC’s Union Station.

getting here

Hungry? You’re in luck. Dupont Circle and downtown DC have plenty of options within walking distance:

  • The Mayflower’s Edgar Bar & Kitchen: Classic, sophisticated, and convenient (think cocktails, power lunches, and modern twists on American fare).

  • Founding Farmers: Beloved for hearty farm-to-table meals, just a short walk away.

  • Le Diplomate: A local favorite bistro with Parisian flair (yes, the bread basket lives up to the hype).

  • The Hamilton: Bustling spot for everything from sushi to burgers, with late-night energy.

  • Duke’s Grocery: Laid-back with one of DC’s best burgers.

Whether you’re here for the sessions, the sights, or the snacks (no judgment), SMPS NERC 2026 is your chance to experience DC like never before. Pack your bold blazer, your comfy sneakers, and maybe an extra tote—you’re going to want to take something home.
